William Crookston

Billy worked with life companies, Friends Provident, Standard Life and Scottish Amicable where his career progressed to sales management before joining a leading Edinburgh based independent financial adviser firm in 2000.

Specialising mainly in Wealth Planning, Pension and Investment Planning. Billy then co-founded Rutland Independent Wealth Management LLP as a managing partner in 2015.

Craig Dougan

Craig has worked in financial services since 2002. He started working as a Financial Adviser for CIS Insurance in 2006. Since then he has worked as a Financial Adviser for Santander and Nationwide before joining Rutland Independent Wealth Management as an Independent Financial Adviser in 2015.

Craig is committed to his clients and enjoys taking time to understand their needs. He advises private clients on all aspects of financial planning, he has a particular interest in retirement planning.

Chris Buyers

Chris started his career in financial services in 2002 as a Financial Adviser with Lloyds Banking Group. Over that time, he has successfully built long term professional relationships with clients gaining an extensive and broad-ranging level of experience throughout the time with the Bank. He was promoted to Senior Financial Adviser in 2008, where he gained invaluable management experience, helping manage a team of advisers along with an Area Manager

In 2015 Chris decided to broaden his horizons and go self-employed as an Independent Financial Adviser with Rutland Independent Wealth Management. This has turned out to have been a successful move for his career and Chris became a managing partner of Rutland Independent Wealth Management in 2023.

Lesley Dickson

Lesley has been working in financial services since 2005 when she joined Aegon as a Customer Services Advisor.  During that time she gained knowledge on pensions and investments and built on this knowledge going on to work as an administrator with financial advisors in Linlithgow and Edinburgh . 

Lesley joined Rutland Independent Wealth Management in 2020 and provides administrative support.

Stephen Wilson

Stephen started his career as a Financial Adviser with The Bank of Scotland (Lloyds Banking Group) in 2007.  He has primarily worked in the Scottish Borders and central Scotland since 2009 and has successfully built long term relationships with clients throughout his career specialising in providing advice around financial protection, pension and retirement planning, investment planning and inheritance tax planning. 

Stephen latterly worked for Schroders Personal Wealth as part of the joint venture between Lloyds and Schroders in 2019 before becoming an Independent Financial Adviser with Rutland Independent Wealth Management in February 2020 and subsequently a managing partner in 2023.  Stephen is currently working towards level 6 Chartered Status.

David Henderson

David graduated university in May 2019 obtaining a degree in Marketing Management. He started his career in semiconductor manufacturing as a Sales Executive. During his time in sales, David always enjoyed human interaction and explaining technical knowledge to customers, which lead him to learning about financial planning. 

He joined Rutland in April 2025 after achieving the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. He is passionate about helping individuals build long term financial plans and enjoys creating and maintaining long term relationships. David is continuing his professional development and is working towards Chartered level 6 status.
